Wits turns 100
Come celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime milestone
Enjoy a range of events for the whole family - exhibitions, film screenings, musical and theatre performances, campus tours, free entry to all campus museums, a spectacular light show, an Arts & Crafts market, food courts, sports events, as well as school, class and sports reunions. For more information, visit Wits Homecoming.
Dress up. Turn up. Be part of the #Wits100 Parade, reminiscent of RAG. Gather from 11:30 at the Origins Centre (Yale Road South gate), from where the procession and floats will proceed through Braamfontein and re-enter campus via Empire Road.
Bring your friends, family and colleagues to the Library Lawns, East Campus. Bring your picnic blanket and basket, and/or buy food and drinks from pop-up stalls. Live entertainment. All museums and galleries will be open with free entry.
With the iconic Great Hall as backdrop, this will be an experience on the Piazza not to be missed! The interactive #Wits100 Light Show tells our history through images and light, joined by drummers, the Wits Choir, and audience participants.
First held 51 years ago, the Free People’s Concert will pay tribute to the legendary Johnny Clegg who kicked off his career on the same stage. Line-up: Jesse Clegg, Savuka, Mango Groove, DJ Maphorisa, Holly Rey, and more. Tickets R100 pp (Webtickets).
